Blog post: Get event-ready skin in 8 weeks (your glow timeline)

Life has a way of getting busy—fast.

Between work, family commitments, travel, celebrations and everything else on your calendar, taking care of yourself can quickly fall to the bottom of the list. Suddenly, you’re getting ready for a big event with 20 minutes to spare, wondering why your skin looks dull and scrambling to brighten it with makeup.

But what if you could do most of the work before the big day even arrives?

If you want healthy, glowing skin for a wedding, vacation, holiday party or special celebration, the best time to start planning is well in advance. Many of the treatments that make the biggest difference in your skin aren’t instant—they work by stimulating collagen, improving cell turnover or gradually correcting pigmentation and texture.

By starting early, you can give your skin time to improve while leaving event day for the fun stuff.

Here's your pre-event glow timeline. Each stage counts back from your event—whether it's a wedding, milestone birthday, holiday party or family photos—so find where you are today and start there.

8+ Weeks Before | Start With the Big-Picture Treatments

Goal: Address the things you want to actually change about your skin.

Two months out is the time to think beyond a quick facial and focus on treatments that improve the overall quality of your skin.

Take a look in the mirror and ask yourself: What would I most like to improve?

Maybe it’s sun damage after a long Florida summer spent at Stuart Beach or boating around the Treasure Coast. Maybe you’re noticing fine lines, uneven pigmentation, rough texture, acne scarring or skin that simply looks a little dull.

Depending on your skin and your goals, your provider may recommend treatments such as:

· Laser or light-based treatments, such as Lumecca IPL and MiXto Fractional CO2, to address pigmentation, redness, sun damage, fine lines, and uneven skin texture

· Microneedling, including SkinPen and Morpheus8 RF microneedling, to stimulate collagen production and improve texture, fine lines, acne scars, and skin firmness

· Chemical peels to improve dullness, discoloration, and uneven texture

· A customized skincare regimen to continue improving your results at home

Starting these treatments early gives your skin time to heal and—depending on the treatment—time for collagen production and skin renewal to take place.

And if your ideal treatment requires a series rather than a single appointment, starting now gives you much more flexibility before your calendar fills up.

Don't Forget Your At-Home Routine

Professional treatments can do a lot, but what you do every day matters too.

This is a great time to make sure your routine includes the basics your skin needs: a gentle cleanser, antioxidant protection, moisturizer and daily broad-spectrum sunscreen. Depending on your skin, your provider may also recommend ingredients such as a retinoid or products designed to address pigmentation, dryness or other specific concerns.

The goal isn't to suddenly start ten new products. It's to create a simple, consistent routine you can actually maintain—even when life gets hectic.

6–8 Weeks Before | Build on Your Results

Goal: Keep the momentum going.

As your event gets closer, continue the treatment plan you established with your provider.

If you're doing a series of microneedling, laser, peel or other treatments, this may be the time for your next session. Staying consistent now can help your skin look progressively healthier as you move closer to your event.

This is also a good time to evaluate your skincare routine. If something isn't working—or you're dealing with extra dryness, irritation or breakouts—don't wait until the week of your event to change course.

Think of this stage as the building phase. You're still working on the health and quality of the skin itself rather than trying to create a last-minute glow.

3–4 Weeks Before | Plan Your Injectables

Goal: Give everything time to settle naturally.

If Botox or another neuromodulator is part of your event prep, don't wait until the day before the party.

Scheduling several weeks ahead allows time for your results to develop and gives you some breathing room before important photos and events.

The same philosophy applies to dermal fillers. Depending on the area being treated, temporary swelling or bruising can occur, so it's smart to leave plenty of time between your appointment and a major event.

If you're considering injectables for the first time, scheduling a consultation early is even more important. Your provider can help you create a treatment plan based on your features and goals rather than rushing into a treatment because an event is approaching.

Our rule of thumb: Give yourself more time than you think you'll need.

1–2 Weeks Before | Hydrate, Refresh & Polish

Goal: Shift from correction to glow.

Now we're getting close!

At this point, you generally don't want to experiment with aggressive new treatments right before an important event. Instead, focus on treatments that complement the work you've already done and leave your skin looking refreshed.

Depending on your skin and your provider's recommendations, this may be a good time for treatments focused on:

  • Hydration

  • Gentle exfoliation

  • Dermaplaning

  • Skin smoothing

  • Brightening

  • An overall refreshed, healthy appearance

Continue your home skincare routine, drink plenty of water and—yes—even during the cooler months, keep wearing your sunscreen.

The Week of Your Event | Keep It Simple

Goal: Don't sabotage all that beautiful prep!

This is not the week to suddenly try the strongest peel you've ever used because you saw it online.

Avoid experimenting with unfamiliar skincare products or treatments immediately before an important event. Instead, stick with the products you already know your skin tolerates well.

Focus on hydration, gentle skincare and plenty of sleep when you can get it.

And here's the payoff:

Instead of relying on heavy makeup to hide uneven texture, dryness or dull skin, you'll already have spent the past several weeks taking care of the skin underneath.

Your event-day makeup can simply be the finishing touch.

Your Best Glow Starts Before the Big Day

The days leading up to a big event will bring enough things to think about.

Your skin doesn't have to be one of them.

By planning your treatments early, you can use the weeks ahead to address your biggest skin concerns, give treatments time to work and head into your event feeling refreshed and confident.

Then, when the celebrations, gatherings and photos begin, you can spend less time worrying about how you look—and more time actually enjoying them.
